Ectropion (Eversion of eyelid)
It is a condition in which lid margin is everted away from the globe.
Types:
Congenital
Acquired
(i) Involutional (Senile)
(ii) Cicatricial
(iii) Paralytic - due to fascial palsy
Clinical Features
- Epiphora
- Conjunctivitis
- Keratitis
i. Involutional Ectropion.
- It is characterized by excessive horizontal eye lid length combined with weakness of pretarsal portion of orbicularis muscle.
ii. Cicatricial Ectropion.
- Caused by scarring or contractures of skin and under lying tissues
Causes:
- Trauma
- Burns &
- Tumors
Treatment:
- Surgical
